The name ‘computer’ was derived from the Latin word "Computer" which means "counting". So basically the computer counts a lot of memories and graphics and is on your screen!

Simply put, a computer is an electronic device that stores information or records whereas Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science concerned with programming computers to accomplish activities that require intelligence for humans to complete successfully.

Early efforts focused on developing broad systems capable of performing a wide range of activities as well as specialised systems that excel at a single job.


Expert systems fall into the second type, with the goal of achieving expert-level competency in a narrowly defined field of activity. These are divided into two parts: a core that contains domain-specific knowledge and inference rules, and a shell that (is domain-independent and) offers the means of communicating with the user.

The Fifth Generation Computer Project:

Japan's planned Fifth Generation Computer project is the first systematic effort to consolidate and expand on artificial intelligence research and incorporate it into a new generation of very powerful computers for everyday usage by the average person.

Expert systems provide several benefits and are utilised in a wide range of real-world applications. Such systems can function admirably in situations that need knowledge and abilities that a person can learn through formal education. They cannot, however, function in circumstances requiring tacit information acquired naturally by people, such as shape and speech recognition and natural language communication. There is still a lot of room for study in this area.


Rather than being uninvolved viewers or passive consumers, developing nations like India have a responsibility to play in the progress of this technology. They face the same limitations and advantages that compelled Japan to enter this market: a scarcity of natural resources and energy, as well as the availability of skilled labour.

Participation in Fifth Generation, Computer Technology has a huge potential for improving industrial productivity, managerial efficiency, rural medical care, and literacy at all levels. Implementing fifth-generation technologies and software would be a difficult but effective method for our country to generate riches.

Third Generation Computer (1964-1971)

Jack Kilby was formed in 1958. It was founded on the concept of a unified region. In the realm of computers, IC was a game-changer. It can hold hundreds of transistors.

In the third generation, the keyboard and mouse were introduced.

Obstacles

·       It was unable to fix the IC.

·       IC was a difficult task.

·       A computer from the third generation would have been quicker and lighter than a computer from the second generation. It is more effective than the 2nd Generation.

 

Fourth Generation of Computer (1971-2010)

Intel introduced the first 404 microprocessor in 1971, which evolved into the fourth generation of microprocessors. VLSI technology was used in these computers. VLSI stands for a very large integrated circuit. As a result, it is referred to as a microprocessor.
